Even so, the police had no leads or clues to suggest anything other than a tragic accident. Were these truly accidental deaths? The body had a tale to tell.

It leads Berzinski and Rouse down a tangled trail of clues before reaching a mind-boggling conclusion. Will Berzinski and Rouse catch the killer before it's too late? Filled with intrigue, betrayal, and gut-twisting suspense, Death by Drowning will draw readers into a Midwestern town full of secrets and clues as breathtaking as the Mississippi River.

Orville Mouse and the Puzzle of the Clockwork Glowbirds by Tom Hoffman

Orville Mouse and the Puzzle of the Clockwork Glowbirds - Tom Hoffman

I loved the Deptford Mice books growing up and my fave Disney movie is Basil the Great Mouse Detective so I just had to read this book! Orville Mouse and the Puzzle of the Clockwork Glowbirds, is geared to (older) children, but for me it was still a magical read full of whimsical characters, and the world building is very creative.

Orville and his friend Sophia are members of the Metaphysical Adventurers, and this is Orville’s origin story if you like. He discovers Sophia is a Shaper and she in turn helps him discover that he is also in fact a Shaper – mice who are able to convert their thoughts into physical objects – which leads him to join the Metaphysical Adventurers.

The story will take you on a journey and transport you to the magical world that Hoffman has created, and for an adult it nice to be a child again and let you imagination go along with the story. I cant wait to read more of this series.

Lovers at Heart, Reimagined by Melissa Foster (Love in Bloom: The Bradens)

Lovers at Heart, Reimagined - Melissa Foster

I have a confession to make, I have not read Treat and Max’s original story, so how this is re-imagined I am not sure, but one thing I am sure off is that this is a truly heartwarming story of second chances by the very talented Melissa Foster.

Her Love in Bloom universe is immense and each book is different but all have characters that are real, relatable and easy to fall for.

Lovers at Heat is an emotional ride for Treat Braden and Max Armstrong. They shared a magical evening together and the day after based on a misunderstanding Max ran from Treat and he has been longing for her every since. Six months later Treat heads back home to his father ranch and family and a chance meeting sees him bump into Max! The desire he felt for all this time bubbles to the surface and he is determined not to let her run away again.

Max has been betrayed in the past and never in a million years did she expect to fall hard for Treat – a man who could have any woman on earth by the way, but he chose her. But her past insecurity and betrayal caused her to run, and Treat had no idea just what he had done.

Once they finally get together again, and Max explains her past, Treat tells her about his own betrayal and proves that he is nothing like her ex.

This is one emotional story for Max, and I absolutely loved every moment of it from the first to last page, I loved how they were together and how above all love prevails no matter what happens.

Being Unapologetic, Empowering You to Become an Influential Speaker and Visionary Leader by Davide Di Giorgio

Being Unapologetic, Empowering You to Become an Influential Speaker and Visionary Leader - Davide Di Giorgio

I am going to be honest. at first I did not think this book for me, I couldn’t relate to the authors experiences, so I put it down then picked it up a few days later and that is when it suddenly clicked! Its not about him, but about Davide teaching US how to be unapologetic, about letting go and challenging you to become a better person in this life.

This is certainly not a book that you can read in one sitting, it is one that you you will dip into when you need to but what it does do is provided you with examples, stories and exercises at the end of each section that will have you discovering even more about yourself.

Davide’s words and wisdom really does inspire you, and though is not a book I would not normally read I can’t wait to complete the exercises and let go and become Unapologetic.

Sweet Heat at Bayside by Addison Cole

Sweet Heat at Bayside - Addison Cole

Sweet Heat at Bayside is the third book in the Sweet Version of Melissa Foster’s fabulous Bayside series, and after reading the steamy version this one is just as brilliant without the hot and heavy sex scenes.

Serena and Drake have been friends since childhood and she has crushed on him for all those years, but an almost kiss in high school where Drake pulls away see her put him to the back of her mind and moved on (to the outside world that is)

Faced with a wonderful job opportunity that will see her move to Boston and leave her friends and Drake behind, pushed her to tell him how she really feels but with the cards on the table what will become of their relationship? You will just need it to find out!

How Addison can take a truly steamy story and make it work as a sweet version is true magic, I don’t usually read the steamy then sweet so close together but you really do get the full force of the book, and I love that there are two versions, it means that everyone gets to enjoy a Melissa Foster book rewritten by Addison Cole in a such a sweet way that you don’t lose the sexiness from the other version.

Bayside Heat by Melissa Foster (Love in Bloom: Bayside Summers Book 3)

Bayside Heat - Melissa Foster

Things are really heating up in Bayside with this new instalment from Melissa! I love how her book titles perfectly reflect the story within the pages.

Serena Mallery and Drake Savage have been friends since childhood and for Serena she has crushed on him for a long long time, but thinking that he only saw her in a brother/sister type relationship and an almost kiss that he pulled away from when she was in high school. she has put him to the back of her mind and moved on – to her friends she has anyway but the heart knows what the heart wants and her heart wants him.

Faced with a wonderful job opportunity that will see her move to Boston and leave her friends and Drake behind, pushed her to tell him how she really feels but what she wasn’t expecting was the same feeling in return – sure she has dreamed of the scenario every night for years and years but now all the cards on the table what will become of their relationship?

You will have to read Bayside Heat to find just exactly how they overcome the obstacles they are facing, but one thing I can say is that this that you are in for one steamy ride as these two are meant to be together and one thing Melissa does well is write friends to lovers story lines that are not only passionate but with lovable realistic characters to boot.

Billionaire Auction by Debbie White

Billionaire Auction - Debbie White

I have read my fair share of Billionaire lovers books over the years, but for me this one is at the tame end of the scale. The story is a very clean romance that even your granny could read no problem.

Also the focus is not all about the money, Chase may be rich but he certainly doesn’t flash it about or use it to influence Jenny in any way. Jenny as a character was very annoying to me – she was always hot and cold not knowing what she wants, and the communication between then was all over the place!

Chase has a daughter who has Downs and I expected more interaction between Jenny and Penny, but there didn’t seem to be enough. Their romance was fast, stilted with obstacles and lack of communication, but they manage to overcome everything to be together.

If you are looking for a quick romance read featuring a Billionaire who wears his heart on his sleeve and is looking out for his daughters needs then this will be right up your street.

Sweet Passions at Bayside by Addison Cole

Sweet Passions at Bayside - Addison Cole

We met Emery in Sweet Love at Bayside and seeing Desiree fall in love and decide to stay, Emery has decided to take the plunge also and up sticks and move to Bayside to be beside her and work in the resort doing yoga classes. Emery and Dean became close after Desiree’s wedding and both of them have been talking for months late into the night getting closer and closer with each call. Emery sees Dean as her BFF as well and is so comfortable around him that it makes the chemistry even stronger.

Dean would love nothing more than to show her what a relationship with him could be like, but she is reluctant as she always ruins her previous ones and doesn’t want to cross that line with Dean for fear of losing their amazing friendship at the same time.

Will she give Dean a chance and let him show her how good they can be together? Or will she ruin it before things get off the ground?

Sweet Love at Bayside by Addison Cole

Sweet Love at Bayside - Addison Cole

When Desiree turns up at Bayside worried about her mother little did she think she would have no need to worry let alone fall in love and up-root her life. Summoned to Bayside under false pretences, Desiree’s mother led her to believe that she was at deaths door but instead she just needs her and her sister violet to come look after her house/studio whilst she goes goes off to “find herself”

When Rick Savage first meets Desiree there is no denying the instant attraction between them, but both of them know that they are only in the Cape for the summer, so they make it a fling to remember. I really loved how Rick brought out the naughty side to Desiree and loved watching her grow from this innocent school teacher to vixen. Can they make it more than a summer fling to remember and make it a lifetime of romance?

Addison has turned one hot story into a sinfully sweet version that you will just love.

Blownup in Paradise by Deborah Brown (Paradise Series Book 14)

Blownup in Paradise - Deborah Brown

I am loving the Paradise Series and when ever I pick up a new instalment I can only begin to wonder what mischief Madison and Fab are going to get up to or get involved in. Blownup in Paradise see the girls get involved in their most explosive adventure yet, both literally and figuratively – boats are blown up, dock are on fire and the girls must contend with being on the right side of the law now and not go rouge.

There is never a dull moment for Madison and Fab and the cottages with their host of eclectic residents has its own share of drama as usual. This series is filled with a host of characters that you have come to love as you would your own family and you just help but get involved with the antics they all get involved in. The little tid-bit at the end (not a cliffhanger) has left me patiently waiting for the next book to come out!

Anything for Love (The Bradens & Montgomerys (Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls) by Melissa Foster

Anything for Love – The Bradens & Montgomerys (Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls) - Melissa Foster

Beau oh my god Beau, he has loved and lost and my heart just breaks for him, but Charlotte, oh my she is the best thing to ever happen to him.

The start of this book is hilarious! Beau has no idea what he has gotten himself into when he arrives at the Sterling Inn and finds moaning from behind closed doors and blow up dolls! Ok, so he discovers that it is actually Charlotte, enacting scenes for her writing – she is an erotic author and has to get her inspiration from somewhere to make her scenes realistic! From here we and Beau are privy to all of Charlotte’s quirks and for all I love all of Melissa’s book I don’t think any have make me smile and laugh so much than this one did.

Charlotte has lost all her family, and despite being alone she is the most loving, funny and carefree woman just waiting on her own fairy tale romance. Beau still hasn’t gotten over his first love who died in a tragic accident, and only agreed to come and help renovate the Inn to Hal as a favour but also as a means to escape his past and the anniversary of her death back home.

Knowing all that Charlotte has lost he thinks his loss is trivial in comparison but what Charlotte does is bring out the healing his heart needs to become whole again. They are just the best couple and go really well together, from the start the chemistry, laughter and romance is there and despite being opposites, together they can heal each others hurts away.

This is book 2 in The Bradens & Montgomerys series, part of the bigger Love in Bloom series by Melissa, and all her books are amazing as stand alone, but they are utterly wonderful if read as a series.

Crazy Fox Ranch (Paige MacKenzie mystery) by Deborah Garner

Crazy Fox Ranch - Deborah Garner

I have read Deborah’s Moonglow Novellas but this is my first time reading a full Paige MacKenzie mystery, and you do not need to have read any of the previous books in order to read this as it works well as a stand alone.

Paige has left Manhattan and moved to Jackson Hole to be closer to her cowboy boyfriend Jake Norris. In the previous books their love has blossomed and she has made the decision to move closer to him and start a fresh but still do her journalism which she will freelance stories from Jackson Hole back to her old newspaper. As she starts to delve into the Hollywood connection that Jackson Hole has with old Western movies, Paige discovers much more than just a movie. When strange things start to happen at Jake’s ranch and a persistent gentleman named Percy who is very keen to buy the property despite it not being for sale, Paige gets her investigation hat on and uncovers a bigger mystery going on with regards to the ranch and Jackson Hole in a whole.

Paige discovers a series of hole on the property which Jake puts down to being a fox digging, but she discovers more dug up holes when she visits parts of Jackson Hole that were used in the movie Shane. She discovers some metallic items near some holes, surely its not the same fox digging all over the place? and if not a fox who is doing all the digging and for what reasons?

This was a good little mystery and I really enjoyed my first foray with Paige and cant wait to go back and read the previous book (i am desperate to get her connection to Mist from the Moonglow Cafe novellas)

Whispers at Seaside(Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers) by Addison Cole

Whispers at Seaside (Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers) - Addison Cole

Matt Lacroux is a University Professor who has taken a sabbatical and came back to Seaside to work on a book, where he just so happens to reconnect with Mira who he met a year previous and who also works in his fathers hardware store,

Mira Savage is a single mother, and her son Hagen is her number one priority, finally after a year of messaging with Matt he is back in town and she doesn’t know what to make of their relationship as he is only to be home for 3 months or so.

They both have an amazing and intense chemistry toward each other, and whilst Matt is the perfect gentleman he always takes into consideration Hagen in everything he does and say with and around Mira. For me it made me love Matt even more as most guys probably would run a mile at starting a relationship with a single mother (I may be wrong) but he gets on well with Hagen and shows an interest in him and they do “guy stuff” together which I think just sealed with deal for Mira.

Matt just seems to be the most absolutely perfect guy out there and everything he does throughout this book just makes you love him even more.

This was a great friends to lovers story and whilst it was Matt and Mira’s story as usual we got to read about the characters from Seaside.

First Crush, Last Love by Elizabeth McKenna

First Crush, Last Love - Elizabeth McKenna

First Crush, Last Love will take you back to the 80/90’s high school drama of loving the cool guy only to have your feelings rebuffed but still you remember them as clear as day for the rest of your life. This is a second chance love story that is full of gritty real live drama that covers topics of domestic violence, attempted suicide, stalking as well as drinking and abuse. There is a warning at the beginning stating these topics are in the story,

For Jessie and Lee their story is split into three parts, the first being all about their high school years, then their separate lives after, and then their 10-year reunion.  All though their high school years Jessie has crushed on Lee but Lee just sees her as a really good friend, and he is also dating Tina who is basically the school biatch. They have a turbulent relationship at the best of time and Jessie for the life of her cant understand why Lee stays with her. But as we learn more of Lee’s home life and past we can see that he thinks Jessie is too good for him.

When they leave school and go their separate ways, Jessie ends up marrying and staying in town whilst Lee heads to Chicago and becomes a police officer. For Jessie her life becomes one of control at the hands of her husband and whilst the domestic violence is there it doesn’t go into too great a detail, but enough to see what is bubbling under the surface of their relationship. As the years go by and Lee starts to date and want to settle down he knows within his heart that something is missing but its not until he gives up his life and moves back to his hometown now as a detective that he realises that Jessie is what was missing.

From the beginning you know this story is about them finally getting together, but you just don’t anticipate what they have to endure – especially Jessie, in their years apart to get to the point where they become each other Last Love. This was a great story that I read in a few hours and I look forward to reading more from this author.

The Long Journey Home (Johnson Family Legacy Book 3) by James Robinson Jr

The Long Journey Home - James Robinson Jr.

The Long Journey Home is book three in the Johnson Family Legacy series, and boy does this family certainly have lot of drama going on in their lives!

I must confess though this can be stand alone I really do feel it would have been better having read books one and two beforehand (I have them on my Kindle now but just didn’t have time to read them before this review was due) The story flows well with enough of a backstory thrown in at the relevant times but there seems to have been a lot happened to get the family to this point.

This book picks up after events that happened at the airport – and start of with Samuel and Tabitha rekindling their love in the hallway of a hotel whilst trying to get into their room… very sexy start but one that I wasn’t expecting one bit! There seems to have been a lot gone down at the airport and in the previous books and from what I can summize Samuel’s father picked his bags up and left his mother literary in the airport to go an live with his secret lover whom he has a child with! It seems not all was well with Samuel and his wife Tabitha either, but they seem intent on fixing the wrongs.

This book has so much family drama, and covers topics of suicide, alcoholism and infidelity – seriously I don’t know how one family can have so much going on in their lives but you are sucked right into their problems and as you sit by and watch them sort through it all and hopefully come out the other side you can help but be thankful you life isn’t as messed up (or is it….?)

I would recommend reading the first two books to get the back story on what lead everyone to this point.

Lovers at Seaside (Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers) by Addison Cole

Lovers at Seaside (Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers) - Addison Cole

I am totally and utterly in love with Addison’s Sweet with Heat series, whilst I love the previous steamy versions of these stories, this series opens up those books to a whole new audience (even got my mother into them!)

Parker Collins and Grayson Lacroux have been emailing each other for the past year – professionally I might add, as Grayson & his brother Hunter won the sculpting bid for Parker’s Foundation, now she is in town mourning the death of her friend and mentor Bert. Grayson walks in on her doing a tequila binge, and realises just how much she has impacted his heart over the last year.

The chemistry and romance between them just seems so natural since they practically know each other via all the emailing they have been doing.

I loved watching their story play out and Parker relax and be welcomed into the Seaside group.
